A Massive Draw for the Region: Taking place at the recently renovated, $20 million expanded Stateside Live! venue in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, the festival has already proven to be a major tourism draw. According to organizers, 84% of current ticket buyers live outside Philadelphia, with pickle lovers traveling from 38 different states (plus Washington, D.C.) to attend the National Pickle Day celebration.
This influx of visitors is expected to provide a meaningful economic boost to local hotels, transportation services, and the dozens of small businesses and regional food trucks operating vendor booths at the event.
Grief Is a Big Dill. Beyond the economic impact, the festival is leveraging its massive platform for a good cause. The Big Dill is partnering with Comfort Zone Camp—an organization that supports grieving children—for a campaign titled "Grief Is a Big Dill."
The initiative ties National Pickle Day to Children's Grief Awareness Day on November 19. Runner Morgan (@picklegirlruns), who previously ran a marathon in a pickle suit for the cause, will lead a "Mini Run" to the party and invite the community to lace up and join in. Additionally, purchases made through costume sponsor Imposta Costumes using a special promo code will directly benefit Comfort Zone Camp.
